Abortion and Breast Cancer

This information is not intended to frighten but to inform.

During a normal pregnancy, estrogen levels rise 2000% by the end of the 1st trimester.

During the first 2 trimesters, the breast grows because there is an increase in the number of immature type 1 and type 2 lobules.

During the 3rd trimester, the breast stops growing but lobules mature into Type 3 and 4 lobules.

If this process (pregnancy) is artificially interrupted by way of an induced abortion, the hormone levels drop suddenly and dramatically, thereby suspending the natural process of maturation of many of the women's breast cells.

This is referred to as a 'hormonal blow' by researchers.  These cells are now "vulnerable" to carcinogens because they started the maturation process but were never able to complete it.  Cells that have fully matured are less vulnerable to carcinogens than cells that are in the process of maturation.

"It is my professional opinion, based upon my professional training, experience and my study of the relevant peer-reviewed medical literature, that an overwhelming preponderance of the evidence indicates that induced abortion increases risk of breast cancer.

It is no coincidence that 30% of my patients with breast cancer who are in their thirties do not have a family history of breast cancer but they have had an abortion."
